Story:
The Anthony & Eisenhower Recreation Centers were built in partnership with USD 383
and the City of Manhattan. The recreation centers are used as both a school gymnasium
and a community recreation center. The facilities include basketball courts, volleyball
courts, pickleball courts, indoor soccer, indoor baseball, elevated running track and multipurpose
rooms, totaling 50,639 s.f.

The Manhattan Rec Centers began from a community generated idea about how to create
more indoor and accessible space for the greater community. Managing the diverse
community stakeholder groups to balance needs and wants was key to a successful
outcome. As a complex project with the City of Manhattan, USD 383, and the greater
community, balancing expectations and project goals enabled AKA to be central into how
the project came to fruition.
